Anyone is invited to register for Day 2 (September 23), including policymakers and industry stakeholders, for direct engagement with open source leaders.
Day 1 Congress discussions (September 22) are for invited leaders of open source foundations (one per organization) and their policy representatives (limited to two per organization). If this applies to you, and you have not received an invitation, you may request one below.

Getting in
Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is conveniently located fewer than 3 hours from New York, Boston, and Toronto by plane and only 6 hours from London.
An Air Canada discount is available for attendees and will be given to registrants.
The airport is 25 minutes from downtown by rideshare, cab, limo, rental car, or bus.
Getting around
Halifax Transit
Attendees will receive complimentary access to Halifax Transit throughout the conference, including the city’s iconic public ferry system. This not only supports seamless mobility between downtown accommodations and local attractions, it also lets you experience the oldest continuously operating saltwater ferry service in North America.
From the airport, use Regional Express Route 320: This bus service runs hourly between the airport and downtown Halifax, including a stop near the Halifax Convention Centre. The journey takes about 54 minutes and costs
$4.25 CAD one-way.
Taxis
Taxis are available at the airport and provide a convenient, direct route to the Convention Centre. The trip takes approximately 28-minutes, with fares ranging
from $45 to $60 CAD.
Airport Shuttle
Several shuttle services operate between the airport and various locations in Halifax, offering another convenient option for travelers. The cost typically ranges from $55 to $80 CAD.
Rental car
Car rental companies are located at the airport, providing flexible options for those who prefer to drive. Rental desks are situated on the lower level of the Airport Parking lot.

Visas
Participants from most countries will require a visa to enter Canada. Generally, the process involves:
- Completing an Online Application: Participants must fill out an online visa application form available on the Government of Canada’s immigration website.
- Providing Supporting Documents: This typically includes a valid passport, proof of financial support, and an invitation letter. (If you need an invitation letter, please note this on your registration.)
- Paying the Visa Processing Fee: The fee varies based on the type of visa and the applicant’s nationality.
- Biometric Information: Participants from certain countries may need to provide biometric information (fingerprints and photos).
